The varsity girl’s volleyball team is off to a terrific start with a 12-2 record. According to the girls, the sport isn’t all about the win, but rather about teamwork and the bonds created on the court.

The team won against their rival, St. Ignatius, on September 27th, and their win continued a streak of majors successes this season. The girls also defeated Whitney Young and Jones College Prep earlier this season.

The team finished up Homecoming week with a terrific win against St. Ignatius in another rivalry match. The girls are very close which Junior Allision Riggs feels has been a major contributor to their enormous success this season. The team lost multiple seniors this year who were both key players and leaders on the court and outside of school.

Junior Lucy Lavins commented, “Although Fenwick volleyball is different this year, we have such a close knit team that I couldn’t see anyone not wanting to be a part of it.” She is truly grateful for the bond that these girls have created.

The girls are looking forward to finishing their season strong, and they are always glad to see their Friar fans coming out to support them. When asked why students and Friars of all ages should attend their games, Lucy Lavins responded, “Volleyball is a magical sport to watch…the positivity, and the smiles on and off the court truly cannot be beat.”

The girls loved the support they received at the Oak Park River Forest game earlier in the season. Their fans witness another great win by the female Friars.

The Friars are excited for their next home games as they continue to bump, set, and spike their way towards State.
