Hockey Teams Fights Onwards

Fenwick boys’ hockey is off to a rocky start. Their current record is 3-9-1, and they are placed 52nd in the CCHL. However, the boys are looking to make a comeback in their future games.
Junior Jack Giura said, “Everyone is continuing to work hard, on and off the ice, everyone’s coming together and really looking like a unit, which is huge for helping us win some of those big games.”
On Friday, November 1, the boys tied with Notre Dame in overtime with a final score of 1-1. The Friar Nation student section was lively, with many seniors and sophomores in attendance. Students participate in a “white-out” theme.
Some big, upcoming games include the Friars’ match against St Ignatius on December 13, a match against Saint Rita at home on December, and the winter classic game against New Trier on January 11.
Despite losing nine key seniors, Fenwick girls’ hockey is off to a strong start this season. The team is currently rebuilding after losing many important players. The girls’ recent wins include a 3-1 victory over Loyola, a 3-1 win against New Trier, and a 3-2 win against Upper Valley Fox.
Fenwick sophomore Elizabeth Mack said, “We are praying for another state victory and are looking forward to the team bonding by the end of the season.”
The girls are currently tied for second place in the Metropolitan Girls League, and they are in position to land a top-two seed at the state tournament.
