As we foreclose on the 2023-2024 school year, seniors are preparing to head off to their future lives, whether it be college, trade school, or a gap year. Here we lie, reminiscing on all the memories that were created at Fenwick and what experiences or lessons we will carry with us. Yet, there are many events that remain, and the stress rises as AP exams, finals, and graduation inch closer.
Less than a month remains until graduation, and as we enter May, the frenzied senior activities approach with ‘Decision Day’ beginning the month off, and seniors accepting their offers to colleges. The pressure of the countdown begins, as we enter the future and unbeknownst to what the time ahead contains. There is a relief though because you have decided what your college is and now the worry of choosing and contemplating is finished. Seniors believe that they can take a deep breath and finally enjoy the final days of their high school experience and not have to worry so much about work and stress. Reality becomes more apparent as we hear over the announcements how many days remain until graduation, and the preparation becomes more intense.
AP exams begin on May 6th and the crucial studying that we are meant to do is getting lost in the excitement of prom plans that weekend beforehand. Along with the AP exams, finals begin on May 17th and exemptions are desired more than ever. Excitement cannot be contained, so many just want the tests to be completed and not have to worry about those exams again.
Although the stress and uncertainty can be overwhelming, the seniors could not be more thankful for Fenwick and all the opportunities and memories this school has provided us with. Friendships that will last a lifetime, experiences that will remain unforgettable, and a supportive community of friars that we can always return to. Experiences such as Kairos and our junior service project that taught us to connect with God through service and vulnerability. Dances such as Homecoming and Prom that flourished our friendships and allowed for enjoyment outside of classes. Teachers and mentors who have been involved in every step of our journey and lending a hand when it was needed the most. We owe our parents and guardians, who provided us with the opportunity of attending a prestigious school with excellent education, the utmost gratitude.
As we conclude our senior year, we reflect on the greatest times we spent with friends and realize the privilege we shared with one another. Cherish the moments in the next few days that conclude your final high school memories. Graduation will be the last time the class of 2024 will be together, sharing their final Fenwick experience. There is so much in store for the senior class and what the future will bring. Congratulations Class of 2024!
