Were you ever recommended a show from a friend to just realize you don’t have the right streaming service to view it? Our flat screen TVs are loaded with a multitude of different services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and Disney Plus. With all these programs at our fingertips we ask ourselves, “What is the best streaming service”? I have gone around Fenwick asking teachers and students their opinion on which is the best one.
The most common answer among students is Netflix. After surveying a variety of students, it seems Netflix has better shows than other streaming services. Juniors Mia Menedez and Marta Kisielewska agree that Netflix targets their service towards kids our age as it recently included games and streams trending shows amongst our age group. Mia elaborates on how Netflix easily customizes your experience with little distraction, making it more enjoyable. Teachers enjoy Netflix too. Mr. Kenney says it is his favorite as it has been around for a longer period of time and contains most of his favorite shows without lacking reliability. Many other students spoke of the ad free service that keeps streamers hooked and happy.
However, Netflix isn’t the star of the show in other students’ opinions. HBO is worthy of the crown as backed up by senior Xahil Gonzalez and teacher Mr. Burke. Xahil explains how HBO holds many of the shows he has watched before compared to other streaming services that produce newer productions. Mr. Burke agrees saying that the quality of shows is on average better than other services. Additionally, HBO has adapted better by recently including live streaming and sports. Others favorited on-the-rise services such as Peacock. Sophomore Alex Matalka’s favorite service is Peacock as she believes it streams more content that you can’t view on any other program.
The mystery remains unsolved as to who is the best streaming service. At Fenwick, Netflix is concluded to be the best with HBO at a steady second. No matter what service you watch, phenomenal shows continue to be produced with easy accessibility on all platforms. Next time you watch TV take into consideration the content you’re streaming and what appeals to you most.
