The charter president for Interact Club, Rachel Abraham, was selected to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards ( RYLA) and there she was able to learn the importance of developing a humanitarian and charity mindset. She founded the Interact Club of Niles to encourage the youth to uphold the Rotary motto: service above self. The Rotary Club of Niles aims to support the impoverished in underdeveloped countries as well as local communities. Along with them, the Interact Club expands their humanitarian efforts by reaching to local causes in Chicago. They collaborate with organizations such as the Missionaries of Charity Chicago, Chicago Food Depository, and Chicago Furniture Bank. The joint effort has led to the distribution of hundreds of meals and furniture. The Interact Club also has raised over $3000 to a global grant initiative to provide basic health care to the socioeconomically challenged population in Tamilnadu, India. This project is initiated by Christian Medical College, Vellore which was founded in 1900 by American missionary Dr. Ida S. Scudder. We call on our Fenwick Friars to support the Interact Club of the Rotary Club of Niles. If anyone is interested in joining the Interact Club, please contact Rachel Abraham at [email protected]
