Going back to school can have its ups and downs for many students. It can either be exciting or nerve wrecking. Whatever that might be, going back to school every year opens doors to new opportunities. For seniors, it can be with college applications, for Juniors, SATs and ACTs, while sophomores and freshmen are introduced to challenging courses. But regardless, Fenwick is made up of numerous traditions and events that make the school spirit possible. Football games are a time when everyone comes together to have fun and enjoy the school spirit. Likewise, many students look forward to lunch and seeing their friends daily.
So what makes going back to school worthwhile? When senior Rose Fagiolo was asked she responded with, “Going back to a school environment definitely does cause more stress, especially with all sorts of deadlines to follow. Once a student feels like they’ve caught up, they fall behind another plethora of dates.” That doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to all be dreadful. Fagiolo adds, “Although the school year proves to be mentally draining, it is worth it for the football games, seeing friends, and making new ones. These are once-in-a-lifetime memories to make, so although we feel exhausted, at the end of the day, the moments are worth it.” The majority of students express that the stress of going back to school is worth the hardships when there are so many fun opportunities to experience throughout the school year.
School is a great place to make memories. Senior Isabella Del Russo continues the conversation by stating, “I managed to get the majority of my college applications done during the summer so the application process has not been that stressful, but for those who didn’t, I can see this school year being very stressful. Attending football games and seeing my friends makes my school year better for sure. If I didn’t have my friends or after school activities, then school would be much more depressing.” Students share that friends and games make the school a lot more fun, regardless if there are stressful days.
