Music that Bopped this Summer

This summer has been filled with a plethora of good music. I found myself listening to a variety of music. Some of the music I listened to include rap music and classics, and I even discovered new genres of music.

At the beginning of quarantine, rapper Lil Uzi Vert, also known as Symere Woods, came out with his new album called “Eternal Atake,” which contained some amazing new songs. This album received outstanding feedback from his fans, old and new! Some of my favorite songs in the album include “Homecoming,” “That Way,” “Lo Mein,” and “Prices.” Symere even did a remix of his most famous song, “XO TOUR Llif3,” released back in 2017, called “P2,” short for “Part 2.” I listened to these songs on repeat in the summer, and I still listen to a lot of these songs today.

Another album released this summer was “Legends Never Die,” by Juice WRLD, or Jarad Higgins, who unfortunately passed away at the end of last year. Included in the album were short interludes remembering Jarad. Some of my favorite songs from that album are “Man of the Year,” “Fighting Demons,” and “Wishing Well.”

I also started returning to some old songs that I used to listen to in the past. Some of these songs included “Candy Paint” by Post Malone, “Erase Your Social” by Lil Uzi Vert, and “Legends” by Juice WRLD.

Finally, I wanted to expand my palate of music, so I looked into some new genres and found something I enjoyed. This genre was EDM, or electronic dance music. Some EDM songs I listened to this summer were “Light” by San Holo, “Be Together” by Major Lazer (Vanic Remix), and “I Love My Friends” by Steve Aoki.

Overall, I have listened to more music this summer than I ever have before. Music is an escape for me and many other people and is a great way to just relax through all the stress of COVID-19.
