Boys’ Cross Country Paced for a Great Finish

The Fenwick Boys’ Cross Country team is prepping for the post season while looking back at a great conference season.

One of the three coaches, Mr. Wnek, relayed that he has seen great improvements in every runner on the team. “Our boys have been putting in the work since June to leave their all on the course every single meet.”

The team has had to struggle with multiple injuries on the team. They overcame these challenges before conference, and varsity took 4th place at CCL conference with two all-conference runners: seniors Erik Janc, placing 20th and Joseph Wermes, placing 19th.

One of the top runners of the team, senior Erik Janc commented, “This season has been an absolute feast. We’re running well, and we’re bouta eat at regionals”.

Throughout the season, cramps have been at an all time low, thanks to the work of senior captains Owen Filbin and Jared Wermes. Although the team has lost some key members, the boys have apparently pulled together some quality races.

The boys of the cross country team are ready to finish off their season right and hope to see the Friar Nation coming out to support them in the final weeks of the season.
