Golf Hits All Time Low

The Fenwick Girls’ Golf team had a very successful season and made it to sectionals. The team had individual wins over rivals Trinity, Ignatius, and Montini.

Despite the loss of four seniors from last year’s team, the ladies placed third in sectionals. Senior Alexis Attard took leadership as captain of the varsity team, having many of the low rounds of the year.

Coach Trankina claims Junior Taylor Hultquist was the most consistent golfer, always coming through with reliable low rounds and a few personal bests. Taylor shot a ninety in conference, receiving tenth place and All-Conference honors.

The team ended up finishing fourth in conference and advanced to regionals. Senior Alexis Attard, Junior Taylor Hultquist, Junior Brigid O’Hara , and Freshman Lillian Bateman collectively scored a 300 at regionals, qualifying for sectionals. Senior, Alexis Attard placed third individually at regionals, and the team also took third.

The Girls’ Golf team unfortunately struggled in sectionals, ending their season. However, many players scored their personal best this season, including Grace Bennett, Brigid O’Hara, and Lillian Bateman. Besides their love of golf, these ladies bonded over their love of food.

Coach Trankina said, “These girls know how to eat! We usually had Brigid, Alexis, and Taylor planning where the girls would eat after each match.” According to Junior Grace Bennett, it was always a good practice when the team ate good food.

Coaches Konrad and Trankina loved how enthusiastic and encouraging the Fenwick Girls’ Golf team was this year and are looking forward to next season.
